Lunch with the Ladies

Because we are ladies ya know.  I think being over 21 qualifies us to move up from the "girls" category because we are so old and experienced now that we are legal adults and all.  ANYWAY, we got together this week for a couple hours to catch up and pretend we are best friends again.  We do this about once a year at our fave high school haunts.  We talk about boyfriends/husbands (or lack thereof) and school and how "old" we are. We compliment each others NEW haircuts (that are really four months old) and discuss "the latest" in our lives.  We reminisce about old times, sometimes with a cringe, and dream about our futures and the adventures we'll take.  For a couple of hours its like old times, like we are gonna be there for each other, through the good and bad, big and small, friends foreva.  And then, we realize that we've been talking for 4 hours and its starting to snow and it might be time to go back to reality.  So we leave and probably won't talk or hang out for another 12 months, or maybe longer depending where life takes us, but for a Wednesday afternoon life became just a little less lonely (not that Coby isn't good company, just girl time is different ya know?) cause of my friends.  So thanks ladies, lets do lunch again sometime shall we?

It's a boy...I think

Coby and I made a MAJOR step on Saturday...we adopted a car!  It was love at first site.  I mean Coby we loved the Jeep too (so maybe it broke down in the Target parking lot and we had to push it, and it guzzled gas like Coby downs hot chocolate, and it started to hum EMBARRASSINGLY loud causing people to stare ...I'm over it!) but all good things must come to an end right?!  So after some haggling, stress, an overnight test drive (who knew?) and my not-so-nice side coming out to staredown the salesman, we traded in the Jeep for a decent amount (I guess they didn't try to roll down the passenger side window...) and bought this beauty.  Not only will it save us gas money, but I don't feel like I should pray every time we turn it on :)  So maybe the Jeep wasn't that bad, and we will miss it next time we go to a Drive-in...but with a 2008 the prospects are ENDLESS!  Can you say roadtrip? :)

the BACKUP plan

This was our conversation during Sunday school yesterday following a riveting tale about a man who switched his career from being a barber to being a carrot farmer...

Leisa: Hey, that can be your backup plan if you don't get into med school. You can farm carrots!
Coby: Yeah! We'll have carrots everywhere...and maybe some rabbits!
Leisa: You can't have carrots AND rabbits
Coby: Why not?
Leisa: Because the rabbits will eat all the carrots!
Coby: oh yeah...
Leisa: you wouldn't be a very good carrot farmer....
Coby:  No, but I'd be an awesome rabbit farmer.

So, if all else fails, we'll take up rabbit farming.  Its good to know we have a solid Plan Z.

Aaallcohooolllll

What?! Its a Brad Paisly song! Who's concert we went to...a couple weeks ago for Coby's birthday present {I know it's probably against blogging rules to post two weeks after the fact but I had midterms so give me a break} Anyway, not only is it his song but it is a perfect way to describe the evening.  I have NEVER seen so many drunk people.  Seriously!  They were everywhere.  Once we got past being horrified it was a HOOT!  they were crazy and almost as good an entertainment as the actual concert!  They even offered to buy us a beer {and we should have taken it so we could sell it!  those things were 8 bucks a can!}
Drunk people...scary no?

Trying to fit in...

The highlight of the evening was definitely Brad Paisley, though Darius Rucker wasn't too bad {he also sings a song about beer...what is it with these country singers?} They are AMAZING in concert! We pretty much LOVE him now, I mean we loved him before but now that love has multiplied.  He sang all our favorite songs {including OUR song}, made us laugh, made us cry {almost...kinda...not really}, and helped us get our boogy on {yes,  Coby and I can sorta boogy..though not like the drunk people...yuck}  Conclusion: it was AWESOME.  We would totally go see him again in a heartbeat {though next time maybe not in the cheap seats} We topped everything off with a midnight run to Wendy's and it made for a pretty perfect night!

Crazy Bands!!

So Leisa has some of these Crazy Bands.  Apparently their the new craze.  I think they're kinda fun and a cool collectable, and everyone has them!!!  Even a big tough guy at the State Fair was sportin the bands!  Anyway, there's this little girl in our ward that sat in front of us today and she had a couple bands.  She turned around and saw Leisa had some and so she took her's off and showed them to us in sacrament meeting.  It was really cute.  And then after church she found Leisa and showed them again (I'm pretty sure she wanted to trade).  She had a high-heeled boot and a pig :) We saw her mom after they were home and changed and she told Leisa that the little girl asked when Leisa was gonna come over and trade bands!!  Leisa is pretty much famous now!  So now that Leis has begun a black-market trade on crazy bands, let us know if you want a special band and we'll make the rounds in primary and hunt it down :)

our new {thing}

I am an Exercise Physiology major...for those of you who don't know exactly what that entails let me tell you...EXERCISE.  All day, every day I learn about exercise...
why you should exercise, what happens if you don't exercise, how the less you exercise the earlier you Die {harsh, but true}, how many calories you burn, how many calories you should burn, all the diseases you get when you don't exercise...you get the picture.
 AND all of my classes are taught buy incredibly fit, skinny people who obviously have MUCH more time to exercise than I do.  SO... last Thursday as I left my class {where i learned ALL about skeletal muscle} I decided it was time to do something about my less-than-toned arms, and that my 60 minutes of walking to and from work, class, and home was just not cutting it.  {and my baking obsession probably isn't helping either}
So began our new THING.  I like to call it the get-out-of-bed-BEFORE-the-buttcrack-of-dawn-and-get-all-sweaty-and-sore-and-tired-before-school thing.
Yup, we are exercising before class everyday {almost}.  I know it's supposed to be healthy and good and all but at 5:45am when the moon is still high and Coby's arms are soo warm and we went to bed at midnight it's REALLY hard to roll out of bed to work out.  Not to mention that working out makes even the most SIMPLE tasks {like doing dishes, washing my hair, putting on my back pack} hard.  Even laying down was painful this week!
 But it can only go up from here right?  And you better believe that when I look like Kelly Rippa and Coby has the abs of Mr. Universe, there will be pictures posted!
But for now, we'll get our tooshes out of bed and I'll be able to sit in class guilt-free because I EXERCISED and will not die early.

Arizona would be nice...

Hello sunny AZ! So good news...I got an interview at the U of Arizona School of Medicine!!! Yeah, but we're not excited about it or anything...PSYCH!!! We're pretty much suuuuuper excited. It's good news that it came this early in the interview season, and that we have pretty good ties to Arizona, and they have a Nutrition program for Leis. And I'm pretty much the luckiest man on the planet to have a supportive wife that is as excited as I am about this. So everyone cross your fingers and pray your gutts out for us so we can stay close to Utah for the next four years and not in a far far away land....you laugh...but serioiusly...pray....alot...

Q&A: Elder Bednar

Yesterday, Coby and I had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go to a fireside for our stake and guess who spoke? You guessed it, Elder Bednar!  BUT he didn't just speak at us, he spoke with us. We litterally had a two hour question and answer session with Elder Bednar and his cute wife.  WOW! Like I said, once in a lifetime! He and his wife answered all kinds of questions.  He talked about raising a righteous family, having kids, education, staying righteous, being called as an apostle, how it felt when President Monson was called as president of the church, following the prophet, dealing with family, even the "housing arrangement" of the Celestial Kingdom.  They were both so inspiring, and you know what else? they were HILARIOUS! It was so enjoyable and such a blessing to be couseled so personally by an apostle.  Really personally, like we could see his eyeballs without a TV or binoculars! At the end of the night we even got to shake his hand.  He is truly an inspired man who is called of God.  REALLY, WOW!

PICTURES

So...moral of this story is we're slow. I know we're slow...we're still working on thank you notes, we're still hanging up pictures, and we're just barely posting wedding pictures.  We've just been TOO BUSY being in LOVE! (cue gagging sounds) ...But seriously...its true... until now.... Now I get to post on the blog while Coby writes about a million essays for his many secondary applications (he's in high demand)  Anyway, here's a few of our millions of pictures from our wonderful wedding day...enjoy.
We have an AMAZING family
...and friends
The cake was my favorite part

We have so many cute nieces and nephews

Leisa getting the staredown...but I guess she passed!

And they lived happily ever after...THE END

the facts of {MARRIED} life

Since we have now been married for 30+ days and we're pretty much experts on this whole marriage thing...well, maybe not EXPERTS but I have figured out a thing or two about this whole wedded bliss thing:

 The things you loved about him pre-marriage....you still love

the things that bugged you about him pre-marriage...still bug (and probably visa versa)

cooking for 2 = cooking for 4 and eating leftovers

you don't have to worrry about wasting food because he will usually eat whatever you don't

those sticky wall hangers for pictures? definitely work on cinderblock

writing thank you notes takes a LOT of creativity

sugar is very important

communication is KEY

you DO NOT submit your fafsa under any circumstances until AFTER you're married

you're family will decide the opportune moment to take your dream vaca to NYC to see Wicked, the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Fifth Avenue {you get the idea}, is right after you get married...and leave you in the dust.

being left in the dust with your hubby is probably better than new york anywho

Just because you can't act like a 15 year old girl during puberty anymore, doesn't mean you won't still look like one.

you might start thinking the same thoughts and saying the same things {weird}

sharing a bed in your sleep is very hard

goin to bed - easier

getting out of bed - much harder

grocery shopping is much more enjoyable with him

EVERYTHING is much more enjoyable with him

don't make the little things BIG things

put HIM first

and last...
Love HIM like it's goin outta style

The End

happy birthday UTAH

This weekend was the 24th of July and we spent it the right way...with family.  The Price's decided they were going to brave the crazy parade crowds and celebrate the 24th where it all began...downtown Salt Lake.  Thankfully nobody lost any teeth, Clay and Isabella didn't get trampled by a horse, and Tyler and Coby refrained from beating up the weird sign people (with the last name of Bitner...no relation I promise).  All in all it was a delightful morning (even though Coby and I woke up at the buttcrack of dawn, the hotel forgot how to cook pancakes, and a float broke down in front of us).  We loved every minute of it.

After the parade (and a failed attempt at chocolate chip cookies) we got to experience the Bitner side of life.  My cousins from Az were in town to send David off on his mission (haven't seen them in like 6 years!) so everyone got together for a little family reunion.  We played volleyball, rocked Catch Phrase, and caught up...sorta.  We even busted out a few tricks on the trampoline (after eating homemade cobbler and ice cream {YUM}...and a huge dinner.  Maybe not the best idea?) It was great to hang out and spend time with all the cousins and we wish David luck in Guatemala.
Happy Birthday Utah!
