my kinda party

So we've kinda been MIA for a few months.  I haven't been able to convince Coby to get on and blog and with school,work, and life blogging hasn't exactly been at the top of my priority list... Anywho, thought I'd just give anyone who cares a little update of what we've been doing.  I have been busy busy busy with school and work and church.  I LOVE my program so far and it's actually pretty fun hanging out with the same 12 girls everyday.  That takes up most of my time and the rest of my time is spent with Coby and family.  We definitely haven't been able to watch movies a couple of nights a week like we did during undergrad but we still find time to spend together, even if it means falling asleep on the couch at 12:00.  Coby has been busy working, getting applications ready, and picking up my slack.  What a guy! :) Not too exciting I know, but here are some pics from the FUN stuff we've been up to.

I got Coby tickets to BYU football  games for his B-day (which I have pictures of somewhere, I'm just not sure where) so we've been to two and have one more in November.  The first one was kinda rough (Coby's camera broke, my sunglasses broke, I'm pretty sure the team was broke..you get the idea) but the second one was pretty fun, hopefully the third is the same.

This is my best friend (other than Coby and my sistas). We've been pretty tight since we were five and she FINALLY got home from her mission at the beginning of October.  It's sooo good to have her back, I mean Coby's AMAZING but sometimes you just gotta chat with another girl ya know?

A few weeks ago we went to a Jason Aldean concert with my family.  He was pretty rockin.  It was a wild concert (at least by my standards) but so much fun.

The concert was great but the people-watching wasn't bad either.  Not really sure how people can drink that much beer and never leave to go to the bathroom but they provided some excellent halftime entertainment.

Coby almost decked a guy that was drunk off his butt and was giving kalei and me googly eyes.  It's nice to have a tough guy with me.  Needless to say, by the end of the concert said drunk guy wasn't looking so hot...

FINALLY, this weekend we had our ward Halloween party so we decided to go and threw our costume together Friday night.  Coby is the artistic mastermind and it turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself.

We totally won the costume contest but because we weren't there they wouldn't let us win.  Nevermind that we had to leave to go to my DAD's BIRTHDAY... Bitter you ask?   maybe a little... I mean, not to boast or anything, but our costumes were pretty sweet.  Oh well, maybe next year we'll win...

So other than winning costume contests and enjoying the beautiful Utah fall weather we haven't been up to much.  Hopefully it will be less than 2 months before one of us blogs again!

outta this world

Literally!  My papa works at ATK where the rocket boosters are make for the space shuttle.  On Saturday they had a "once in a lifetime" open house and I just couldn't turn down the opportunity to spend time with my dad and sister so I ditched Coby {he had class :( } and drove up north for the afternoon.

that's my papa and cute little sister and behind them are the transporters that  are used to move pieces of the rocket booster.  That is HALF of the transporter for ONE segment of rocket booster...you do the  math.  These things are HUGE!

ATK has their own fire department, their a pretty big deal.  I'm pretty sure that everything up there revolves around avoiding explosions/taking care of explosions once they've occurred, which may be a good idea considering the amount of explosives they work with.

This is the control room where they run the test launches.  Let me tell you, those rocket boosters have some umph and they take every precaution to prevent something bad happening.  This room is underground and has like two foot thick cement walls.  There was also a large red abort button in the center of the control panel.  NBD.

And this, folks, this is a rocket booster.  It's flippin HUGE!  It hold something like 180 tons of explosives or some crazy amount like that{my dad told me but I can't remember}.

See those white deals with flames?  Rocket booster.  It makes me pretty proud that my papa has helped people go into space for the last 20+ years.  he's a pretty awesome dad and I'm so glad I got to spend the day with him and see a little more of what he does.  Thanks Dad!

Summatime!

...is kinda over.  Sorry we have been MIA, we have just been having too much fun soaking up every minute of our last few weeks of freedom...that are now over.  Before I completely sell my soul to my masters program, I thought I would post a summer recap of pics {minimal effort ya know?}

We wanted to go camping all month but could never find a free weekend so we made due with what we had and roasted s'mores over our easy-bake-oven.  The red burners didn't quite have the same effect as a campfire but they did roast the marshmallows more evenly than any campfire I've ever seen.

At the beginning of August we went up to Bear Lake to Coby's parents' cabin for a little reunion and some R&R.  It was beautiful up there and so much fun to spend a few days away from the city and enjoying family and the outdoors.

We went on a little hike with the family up to an old, big tree.  I can't say the tree was super thrilling but the hike was pretty!

We went on a pretty long four-wheeler ride with Coby's sister and brother-in-law.  It was the perfect day for four-wheeling and we had tons of fun them.

I was driving but then Coby switched me...I guess he was just not up to my crazy four-wheeling skills...

We went to a Beez game with our friends, The Wojo's {nice face by the man in yellow} and Coby explained all the secret rules of baseball to me.  I swear that baseball, for being such a boring  slow sport, has the most crazy rules of any sport, ever.

We went to Seven Peaks where we saw a squirrel rummaging through some ladies backpack.  I really was gonna scare it away but I HAD to get a picture first.

We also rode the blue slide.  I rode once and pretty much thought I was gonna die but Coby went three times cause apparently he likes free-falling and water up his nose.  He was actually on the slide when I took this picture but, thanks to my amazing photography skills, you can't actually see him...

We ended the summer with a barbecue and wiffle ball tourney with friends and a few late night movies.  After such a fun month I was definitely not ready for it to end but I guess all good things come to an end eventually ya?  I just have that much more to look forward to for Summer 2014.  

Price Family Parade Adventure

This is a story about how Coby and I spent the ONE morning we could have slept in, made a scrumptious breakfast, hung out in our pajamas {you get the picture} we camped out on South Temple for the 24th of July Parade.  Crazy?  yes... Fun?  definitely
Coby's family is starting this tradition of going to the 24th of July parade.  It is really pretty fun, especially with everyone there.  They get a hotel room right on South Temple and get PRIME seats to enjoy the parade.  Last year we went for the parade but didn't stay over night.  Why would we when we live 5 minutes away right? well, we forgot that logic this year.  We thought it would be fun to go all out and campout with the other crazies and his family.  What we didn't know was that everyone else decided to stay in the hotel room and Coby and I were the only ones who ACTUALLY camped out.  It was still fun though {except waking up to the two creeper guys staring at us...awkward}.

I think this was around 2:30 am.  We were all a little hyped up on fudge, cookies, and gummy bears...I wouldn't recommend that diet at this time of the day... {There is a MUCH better picture but if I posted it Amber might kill me...}

I can't think straight enough to play games at that time so I opted to read my book instead...

Somehow...miraculously...we all survived the night and made it to the parade the next day...not that it was hard for Coby and I since we SLEPT on the parade route!  Can't wait until next years Price Family Parade Adventure!

Falls and Futbol

Coby and I might not be the most social people ever, but we are lucky enough to have a few friends who are willing to hang out with us!  Saturday we spent the day with the Wojciechowski's.  They live in our court and we always have fun spending time with them.  We started the day off with a little exercise and hike to Doughnut Falls.  It wasn't much of a hike but it was a very scenic stroll.

When we got there the boys weren't content just looking at the falls, we had to wade across the FREEZING river and then the boys had to climb the rocks to the top.  Noelle and I were just hoping they would get down in one piece...

After our hike we went to dinner at Adobo's Grill.  It was soo yummy.  Its nice to branch out from our regular   eating spots and try new things.  Once in a while you strike gold and this place was gold.  After our delicious dinner we went to a Real Salt Lake soccer game.  We haven't been to one before this and it was quite the party...after the first 60 minutes of play time.

Who knew soccer fans were so enthusiastic though?! They were stinkin prepared for the goals with streamers and confetti!  I love enthusiastic fans.  4 goals and 2 red cards later Real won and we enjoyed a post game firework show.  
Thanks Drew and Noelle for spending the day with us.  We had such a good time hangin out!

At the Zoo

 Last Thursday we went to the zoo with Coby's sister, brother-in-law, and adorable niece and nephew.  We had so much fun hanging out with them.  We are really lucky to have family so close that actually WANT to do stuff with us!

Their kids are too cute and the L-O-V-E coby!  

This might have been the highlight of the zoo animals (that or the gorilla with his face 1 inch from the glass).  I mean, have you ever seen a giraffe stand like this?  Cause I sure hadn't!

Isabella loved the birds so Coby and her decided to chase them off this little patch of grass.  They were pretty good at the sneaky walk...

Obviously the zoo isn't just for kids... what more can I say?

It all ENDS...ended

...Along with my childhood (sniff sniff) But it ended in a totally EPIC way.  

I learned about Harry Potter in fifth grade, when my student teacher read the first and second books to my class, then my mom bought the books that were out and I've been hooked ever since.  I don't even know the number of times I have read book one, let alone the rest of the books.  I have read at least one Harry Potter book every summer since fifth grade (and that's a LOT of summers).  I was there every time a new book was released up until the summer after I graduated high school when the seventh book came out.  After that I knew it was only a matter of time before they released all the movies and my Harry Potter  phase was really over.  So, the summer after I graduate college, it ended.  But you better believe I was there on opening night at midnight (in my gryffindor T-shirt, stick wand in hand) one last time.  

There is just something about harry potter fans  that is so much better than any other fan group, especially at midnight premiers.  Some of the costumes we saw were amazing.  There was a group of people dressed as Bellatrix, Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy, and about five death eaters.  I wish I had a picture because they looked so legit but I didn't wanna be the creeper to ask them : )

 This lady actually works with Coby but she comes to the premiers to bring her owl (yes, its real)  Like I said, Harry Potter fans are the best.  

My dad, sisters, and cousin came too.  My dad is one of those dads that drives all the way from Logan to go to a midnight (actually 12:45) screening of Harry Potter with his daughters then drives back to logan at 3:30 am.  He's pretty cool.  My sisters and cousin are as obsessed with Harry Potter as I am (almost).  

To make sure we made it through the movie awake, we came prepared with plenty of sugar (I wouldn't recommend that much sugar to anyone at 1 am).  We loaded up on caramel popcorn, Dr. Pepper, Licorice, Rolos, and Butterbeer Blondies... so Delish!  When we finally got to see the movie, it didn't disappoint.  I laughed, I cried, and I loved every minute of it.  Even though its technically over, I'm sure I'll keep rereading the books, watching the movies, and hoping I get my acceptance letter to Hogwarts (I'm just a few years past the right age) so for me, Harry Potter will never really be over.

Saturday evening we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and have a picnic in the park.  We went to Sugarhouse Park because its huge and has a pond with ducks and trees.  On our way out of the apartment one of our neighbors told us if we were going there we had to feed the ducks so we grabbed the bread butts and its a good thing we did cause there were LOTS of ducks to feed including a mama and her new ducklings. 

 

I wish i had a better picture {cell phone cameras...} so you could see their CUTE yellow heads.  I really think I need a pet duckling now.... but this poor mama had 19 little ducklings{we counted}to take care of!!! but oh my they were so stinkin cute and fuzzy following her around!

 My favorite was when she came on shore and they all tried to squish themselves under her wings.  Yup, there are almost 19 baby ducks inside there {one poor guy was wandering around her for a while trying to find a hole to squeeze into} I was dying of laughter and coby kept trying to scare them and disturb their naptime so he could see the little duckies.  the mama was NOT happy but do you blame her? 

It made me pretty grateful that if when I have kids sometime in the next 30 years I only have to have one at a time and not 19 all at once!

Cake

A couple of weeks ago I was wasting time at work...not that I ever waste time at work and I came across this cake and I just HAD to try it out.  I love baking and I especially love baking for people (that way I don't have to eat it all and I still fit into my pants the next day) so this weekend was perfect.   I was a little worried that it wouldn't turn out when I started but I think it was actually a success.

I obviously could use a little practice at the whole cake decorating thing...probably not ready to join the cake boss team... but with Kalei's help I think it turned out alright.

And I'm obviously not a pro at the whole food picture thing (thus the box of Kroger plastic forks in the background) but I don't have a fancy DSLR so it'll have to do. Other than the picture quality I think the cake turned out super cute inside.  I was worried it would fall apart when I cut it but it held together really well.  I love when I have an excuse to bake up something a little extra special.  Thank you holidays!

July Fourth

We spent the 4th of July in Cache Valley, I think its the ultimate place to spend the fourth.
This is how we spent our weekend in Cache Valley:

• and Brigham City fireworks...so close to the action that your insides shake and my eyes watered cause they were so bright.

It was really a perfect fourth of July weekend.  

Disneyland & DCA

DCA is southern California lingo for Disney California adventures for those of you who don't know...we didn't know either before we went.  After our wonderful visit to Riverside we spent three days in not-so-sunny anaheim.  It misted us in the morning a couple times but the afternoons were always gorgeous.  I'll take rain any day over the snow we missed out on in Utah :)
While there we...

Rode  "It's a small world" {longest ride of my life}, cruised around Autotopia, played in Tarzans treehouse, took a submarine ride to see Nemo, and rode the train because we were so tired we could hardly walk.

We also took pictures with {and of} almost every Disney character we saw.  Most of the time we didn't want to stand in line so we took pictures of them with other peoples children {maybe that's kinda creepy} but we got in with the important ones :)

We also rode pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, Space Mountain {Yes, that is a picture of a picture}, and Star Tours.  Star Tours was really only open for a cast member preview but Robert stepped in front of us on our way to Space Mountain and offered his two extra tickets.  At first Coby was ready to punch him in the face but once he decided Robert and his four year old daughter were not trying to mug us in the middle of Disneyland we talked and rode the unopened, brand new Star Tours with him.  We had some awesome luck while we were there.  We also spent some good time playing who-did-better on Main Street and waiting in line.  My favorite description of the trip was when Coby called some poor guy a beluga in basketball shorts...in the nicest way possible.

Coby beat me on both Toy Story rides and we wore enough 3-D glasses to last us a lifetime!

We rode California Screamer 5 times {that ride did wonders for Coby's hair}, Tower of Terror 4 times {I was just as scared the 4th time as I was the first time}, and Soarin' over California 5 times {by that time my dramamine wasn't workin too well but I stole a barf bag from the swinging ferris wheel so it was ok}...and we took lots more pictures of pictures.

We also discovered our alter-egos, got totally drenched on Grizzly River Run, and scored sweet seats for the World of Color.  A worker came to where we were standing and said he needed 15 volunteers so...we volunteered and he ended up taking us to the VIP seating area.  I'm tellin ya, we had awesome luck while we were there.  We had the perfect view for the coolest show ever.  World of Color really was amazing.  It was the perfect ending to our day at DCA.
Most of all we had soo much fun.  The rides, the workers, the weather {sorta}, the shows {especially World of Color} were all so great.  And, of course, this post wouldn't be complete without coby, the videographer's,  input.  Enjoy!
